ZzzQuil Vox Box >>> Review

Hello Ladies & Gents

I had the pleasure of receiving the #Zzzquil Vox box via Influenster free for testing purposes.

I have to say that this stuff works pretty good. Made me fall asleep fast and stay asleep throughout the night. No more tossing and turning and waking up every few hours. Love it! Normally it takes me hours to fall asleep, but this works great and helps me fall asleep faster. Yay!

Infuse all the things!

My package arrived yesterday from staples ( Subaru Ambassador stuff ). I was super excited because I splurged on myself for once and got a Subaru infuser bottle. You know, the kind that has the infuser in the middle where you can put fruits/veggies to infuse flavor into your water. It’s amazing! If you haven’t purchased one; you’re missing out!

I tried the bottle out as soon as I got it out of the box and washed. All I had on hand was lemons and blueberries so I decided to throw those in. I couldn’t really taste the blueberries so I most likely won’t be doing blueberries again but lemon water is amazing.

This morning I woke up and first thing I did was walk into the kitchen and get some fruits out of the fridge. My flavor choice today was strawberry lemon. Yum! This bottle is definitely keeping me more on track to drinking lots of water throughout the day.

I’m really liking the strawberry lemon right now. Tomorrow I might try orange and strawberry! If you have a favorite infuser combo, please comment below and let me know! I’m always open to trying new flavors.

Fresh Start

Good Morning Everyone!!

6551d8d5b3e0bc5a920314856c72a83c
There’s usually a time in your life when you decide enough is enough. When you decide to take control of your life. Get back to living a healthier, better life. This is my year.

I deal with really bad anxiety. It’s so bad that I’ve started to not like being around new people because I think that they are judging me. Then there’s always guys joking around about “thick” or “fat” girls and I just think if they’re saying stuff about someone they don’t know, then what might they be saying about me? I’m not exactly a twig. I’ve noticed that being overweight has really bumped my anxiety levels higher and I want to change that. The old Katie would apply for jobs and not be nervous or get panic attacks. The current Katie starts an application and then doesn’t finish it because she starts to freak out and anxiety takes over. That’s all going to change this year.

Now I know what you’re thinking. “How is she going to make a big change if she’s fallen off the band wagon numerous times in the past?”. Well, this time I have someone holding me accountable. I want to thank Lindsay for being my support group. Together we will discuss workouts and food intake and keep each other on track. Now, I will be starting this off slowly as I don’t want to just jump into eating salmon everyday and starving myself. I’ve already started making big changes. I drink so much water now and have almost completely kicked sodas from my diet. If I have one, it’s usually once a week. I’ve also started eating better. We used to go out for fast food so often at my parents house. Mostly, because we didn’t have a lot of space for our own food in the fridge and I’d get yelled at for using the kitchen at the same time as my mother. So we just opted to eating out more. Now that we have our own place again, we hardly ever go out to eat. It’s not that we’re so broke we can’t afford it, that’s not the case. We just have gotten in a routine of eating at home. I’ve definitely gotten into a routine of making meals every night for when Steven gets home from a long day at work. I really like making baked chicken and roasting veggies – carrots, sweet potatoes, zucchini. Yum!

Lately, I’ve been starting my mornings off with eggs. Usually 2 eggs with a little bit of milk mixed in. Then I accompany it with either roasted sweet potatoes or today, I had banana. This kept me under 300 calories.

Thanks to Lindsay, I have started a new workout which means I don’t have to feel awkward trying to do something outside or at our apartment gym.¬†Here’s the video. You’d think that it doesn’t do a lot but I was sweating up a storm after doing it last night.¬†

I hope to be able to report every so many days on my progress. I still need to pick up a scale so I can see what my current weight is and see what I lose throughout the weeks.

May you all follow me and support me through this journey. Thank you!

xoxo

Here’s to a New Adventure!

Hello Everyone!

At the beginning of the month, May 8th, hubby & I left California to start our new life in Fayetteville, NC. We were both very miserable living with my parents. It was time for a change and that meant packing the kiddos up and moving across the states to the East Coast. I know a few of your are asking, “How did you do it? How did you just pack up and move? How could you afford it?”. Well to answer those questions, it was easy. Hubby decided he wanted to make this move and I was on board with him. He sold both of his cars so we could afford to make the expensive move out to North Carolina. The expensive part wasn’t even driving out that way, it was for the Penske truck and trailer to tow my car all the way out here. It wasn’t hard for us to do the move but it was more so of when to tell the parents that we were planning on leaving. Hubby’s parents already knew ahead of time because he told them about a month in advance. The hard part, however, was telling my parents (who are pretty judgmental). I was expecting the worst. Basically guilt trips, un-approval and so on. Sad truth, that’s exactly what I got. Mom sorta freaked out and then the whole week or so before we left, it was guilt trip after guilt trip. “You know there’s bad weather right now”. “Your cousin said there’s NOTHING in Fayetteville”. “Sissy and Nardi are not going to like the move”. You know, just saying anything in hopes to get us to stay. Which of course, did not work. (Sorry mom! lol).

So here we are now, Fayetteville, North Carolina. We got here Wednesday May 11th and stayed with our friends. We weren’t able to move into our new home till Saturday.¬†

Now it has been 8¬†days since we moved in and we sorta have everything squared away and organized. Ha ha, who am I kidding. There’s still a lot of stuff to be organized. There’s still stuff that we need to get like a tv stand, a dresser, a bookshelf for all of our dvds and then more kitchen stuff. The joy of living in a new place with your hubby and not having to share and of it with your family is amazing. It means I can finally decorate the place how I want. Plus I love this place. It has tall ceilings, granite countertops, cherry wood cabinets and nice plush, super soft carpet. I believe it’s a little smaller than our last place but it feels bigger and more open.

Did I mention I can’t wait to decorate. These are some items I’ve been eye-ballin’ to pick up for the house.

Kitchen Rug - Target Crockpot - Target Kitchenaide Mixer - Target

I can’t decide which cookie jar I like.

owl cookie jar - target French Bulldog Cookie Jar - Target

There are other things we need to get as well, like a dresser, a tv stand, actual glasses and more pots and pans.

Hope you all enjoyed my post!

Gotta Save Dat Money | Update #2

Hey Hey Everyone!

It’s been exactly a week since I last wrote about saving money with¬†the bingo 52 week challenge. I have been having so much fun with the bingo one rather than the regular 52 week challenge. But really, who doesn’t like coloring? I think that’s the “fun” part about doing the bingo style challenge; you get to color it in! Yes, my inner child likes to come out from time to time.

jar

A little off topic but aren’t my mom’s Valentine’s day decorations cute! I love this sign.

Back on track. So this week I have managed to mark off quite a few squares. If you remember last weeks jar, I didn’t have many marked off at all. [sad jar]

bingo2

Yep, I had a whopping 3 squares marked off. This week I have managed to mark off:
1-10
&
11, 14, 20

That’s quite a bit! That’s $253 that I’ve saved since starting this year! Whew! This is going to be used toward getting a new motor for my car. [eeee, can’t wait!]

jar2 jar4 Jar5

If you’re looking for an easy way to save money, then this is it! It’s also a great way to get kids¬†started¬†on the importance of saving money. Of course, it’s a little hard for a kid to come up with $50 at one time but you can always turn the bingo challenge into a penny challenge and have the child put in a penny for week 1, then 2 for the second week and so on.

I know from personal experience that I would have loved it had my parents taught me how to start saving money at a young age. I know when it’s my time to be a parent, I’ll teach my kids about saving money so they’ll have a good start on their future.

If you’re a little worried about starting the bingo challenge and you’re sitting there thinking, “Katie makes it look easy but I can’t spare a lot of money each week”. Well, you don’t have to do weekly, you can always put in as much money as you want whenever you want. That’s the joy about doing the bingo version versus the regular 52 week challenge. On that one you have deadlines to meet for each amount. I love the bingo style because there’s no time frame. You simply put in the amount you can spare whenever you can spare it. For me, I usually have a week or two out of the month that I actually have money so I’ll plan out how much I want to put in the jar because you know, once it goes in, that means no touchy touchy! I personally like to try to knock out the bigger amounts when I can but sometimes I only have $15 and that’s okay. You do what you can.¬†

I hope you all enjoyed my post and as always, have a great rest of your week!

Now get to saving!

Gotta Save Dat Money | Update

a36dc3d1b31a4ab50ccfce9cd7226f3e

Happy Wednesday Everyone!! I know a few¬†weeks ago I spoke about doing the 52 week money challenge. You can find the blog post here. I was already planning ahead with it and had almost all of March saved for. Then an emergency came up and I had to take from the jar, sadly. Then I decided, why don’t I just do the bingo style that Danielle over at¬†She Makes Cents¬†came up with.¬†

Basically all you do is fill in the square with the amount of money you put in the jar. I haven’t been doing this weekly but more of a when I have money type of thing. Ha! When I went to print Danielle’s version off her blog, it was a little too light and pixel’d. I’m sure I could have emailed her and gotten a better copy of it for mine but I decided to revamp it for my own use. I made mine a little more bold and bigger letters.

Here it is if you’d like to use it!

Savings Bingo

I still kept the amounts the same as hers and hope to have this filled up by the end of the year if not sooner.

Here is the progress on my jar.

bingo2

bingo

I have the 52, 51 and 50 squares colored in. That means I have saved $153 so far. I want to say that at the end of it you’ll have over $1900 in your jar (if you do the bonus squares). I’m hoping that next week I will have a couple other squares marked off. My strategy is to start with the bigger dollar amounts and then work my way up to the $1 and $10 squares vs trying to do the easy ones first and saving the harder amounts for later in the year.

Have you started the challenge to save money this year? Let me know how it’s going in a comment below! I’d love to hear from you!

Have a great Wednesday

*side note: Nardi (my mini dachshund) is passed out on my desk in front of me while I’m typing this. He he.

All About Them Oats >> Final Verdict

12571077_941520372564066_1805364871_n

Yesterday as you recall, I made overnight oats. Packed with oats, honey (just a tiny bit), blueberries, banana and almond milk. Today is the day we see how it tastes!

*starts eating*

It’s actually pretty good. Once you get over the fact that it’s cold. Haha! I might have to try my next one heated up some. I love that its a little bit thicker than regular instant oatmeal which hopefully means it will keep me full longer. My only other concern was that a few of the blogs I found that did recipes on overnight oats, said to add the berries the next morning. Some said to add it all together and that’s what I did. The blueberries weren’t mushy then I ate them this morning. I will say though, this could use a little more honey for sweetness. But overall, it’s healthy and good for you so who cares!¬†

Now it’s on to trying other recipe flavors!!
