Happy Saturday! It’s been a little bit since I last wrote and I wanted to share with you all some awesome little goodies I picked up at World Market and Target. You know me with Target, LOVE IT! It’s hard to stop in and not buy something. I mean, the place is A-M-A-Zing! Moving on, check out the cool stuff I picked up.
At Target I picked up this cute little Farmer’s Market tray for my dining room table. I haven’t really figured out what all I want on it as far as decor display but maybe something will hit me soon and it will look super cute! If you’d like one, check out the Target dollar spot! That’s also where I found this super cute set of kitchen towels! You can never have too many towels right? I’ll have you know, that hubby talked me into the cute Farmer’s Market tote. At $3, it wasn’t like I was spending hundreds. Haha! I’ve already gotten daily use out of it as my planner holder/purse for work. I’ve also taken it to the Farmer’s Market here in Raleigh. Steven was like “You’re going to put the veggies in this?” Me, “Uh, yes. That’s what I got it for!” Haha.
Next item I picked up was this super cute, old fashion laundry machine. Isn’t it cute! I found out about this by seeing my instagram friend’s post on her laundry room. (QBHome IG) I thought it was seriously the cutest thing ever and I wanted it. Granted, I don’t have an AMAZING laundry room like hers but one day I will. This item has been on my “want” list for quite awhile now. It wasn’t until a few weeks back that I decided to just stop by World Market to “look” around. Hubby noticed it and told me I had to get it since he knew I wanted it. Me being my frugal self, didn’t want to pay the $20 for it. But with him telling me over and over again just to get it and “Well it might not be here the next time you visit”, I had to get it. We also found some lemon coolers. Who still remembers those? I didn’t take a picture of them but you can google them. Back to the laundry tin . . . This thing is awesome and huge! I put about seven 30+ count boxes of bounce dryer sheets in it and it still has room for more boxes! I love it! I do wish I had a place to stick it that was close to the washer/dryer but that’s okay.
Love these items too? Check them out at your local World Market and Target dollar spot. Thanks for stopping by!!
I get asked quite frequently how I manage to save money. It’s simple, I use a few different methods that work for me. Once you start and get in a routine with saving, it becomes second nature.
Here are a few tips that help me save!
1. I use a mason jar and have a bingo savings chart taped to the front. It is a fun way to start saving, without having the feeling that you’re super broke. You basically can either mark off 1 number a week or whenever you want to put a little money aside. Depending on if you’re strapped for cash or can let a little more go to the jar. It’s a great method for saving because you can put $1 away, $5, $50, whatever you can spare for the week. I tend to mark off a number and then hide the jar out of site so I’m not tempted to use the money. I love this method because I love seeing the colorful squares get filled up. Makes me excited to save money!
2. The 2nd thing I do to save money, is use Swagbucks. For me, it’s a great way to earn a little extra money for things like car parts, Christmas gifts and more. That means I don’t have to spend money from our paycheck on fun stuff. If you already make a lot of money and just want to do it as a way to save money, then that’s a great thing too! You can totally earn money on there and put that in the jar and just let it grow.
3. Coupons – Yes, couponing does help me save money. I always check to see what coupons are currently out and if there’s anything out for what I usually buy. The other week there was a great coupon for cereal and a deal at Walgreens. So I ended up getting 5 boxes of cereal for hubby for $0.88 each! Definitely way better than spending $2+ a box.
Those are the basic things I use to help save money. Even if you’re working part time, you to can save money! Even if it means putting $1 aside a week. It’ll add up over time. Honestly though, it does take a LOT of dedication and restraint to save money. You have to be willing to put aside the money and not touch it. But don’t give up! Reach those goals!
My package arrived yesterday from staples ( Subaru Ambassador stuff ). I was super excited because I splurged on myself for once and got a Subaru infuser bottle. You know, the kind that has the infuser in the middle where you can put fruits/veggies to infuse flavor into your water. It’s amazing! If you haven’t purchased one; you’re missing out!
I tried the bottle out as soon as I got it out of the box and washed. All I had on hand was lemons and blueberries so I decided to throw those in. I couldn’t really taste the blueberries so I most likely won’t be doing blueberries again but lemon water is amazing.
This morning I woke up and first thing I did was walk into the kitchen and get some fruits out of the fridge. My flavor choice today was strawberry lemon. Yum! This bottle is definitely keeping me more on track to drinking lots of water throughout the day.
I’m really liking the strawberry lemon right now. Tomorrow I might try orange and strawberry! If you have a favorite infuser combo, please comment below and let me know! I’m always open to trying new flavors.
Been quite a long time since I last wrote but I wanted to discuss the new year with everyone. New Year usually means new resolutions and things to change about yourself. At the beginning of this year I started the 52 week challenge. It’s a money savings challenge to help with what else . . . saving money! I was able to make it to April before having an emergency come up and having to withdraw from the jar. This time I’m starting fresh and I plan on making it till the end of the year and hitting that lovely savings total at the end of December.
Not sure what the 52 week challenge is?
It’s simple. You just add $1 each week. Week 1 you put $1 in the jar. Week 2, you put $2 in the jar and so on till the end of December where you will have saved $1,378! If you want to read more on my first time trying this out. You can check out my blog post here.
Now since I have only been doing photography as my income, it’s a little hard for me to put away each week. So, I started the challenge a little early. I figure while I have some extra cash, I might as well start putting it in the jar that way I’m not scrambling between photoshoots to get money for the jar.
Let me know if you’re going to start the challenge too! Also, if you have any money saving tips that work for you, comment below and let me know!

I am probably the most horrible person out there solely for the fact that I can’t keep my damn mouth shut. I see something that upsets me and of course, I open my mouth and end up getting yelled at or make matters worse.
Tonight I just couldn’t hold it in and called out a “friend” who was on IG telling another friend that they’d go out for beers. It just shocked me that he could go out for beers when he owes my husband money. It just astounds me that people don’t think “oh let me pay this person back and just not have a social life right now”. I guess I’m one of those people that would rather stay at home, eating top ramen every day to be able to pay my friend back sooner.
Should I have snapped at him? No. I did it out of defense for my hubby. I tend to get overly upset about something, especially when it has to do with my husband. I can’t stand seeing him get hurt by friend after friend. Or rather, “friend”.
So tonight, I apologized to that person. It was out of line for me to go on IG and start up a post talking crap. I know better than to do that and I let rage get the best of me. This isn’t the person I want to be. It’s time to start changing things. If that means no more facebook and no more IG, then I guess so be it.
It’s really my fault for why I’m not in bed right now, seeing as how it’s 11:51 PM here in the beautiful state of California. Every night around this time, I get online and do swagbucks. It’s my way of making a little money since I’m unemployed. I do enjoying doing the activities as well. One year I earned $180 extra and used that to purchase Christmas presents. This year, since I’ve been so busy, I haven’t made as much but I am shooting toward $100 so I can get my car registration taken care of. After that is taken care of, I will most likely save up the points again and pay our storage bill or most likely save up so I can do my inspection in April. Woo Hoo! Not too sure how I’m going to go about doing my out of state inspection but I guess I’ll figure it out in April.
So today … it was a good day for the most part. I got to drive my car!!!!! I haven’t driven my car in almost a month. Hubby put my car back together and I took him to his eye appointment (it was the worse eye place I’ve ever been to). He had an appointment at Stanton Optical over by the mall and the staff there was ridiculous and not only that, we had to wait almost 2 hours past our appointment time for him to be seen and get his eye exam. Come to find out that he’ll still have to wait 3 weeks to get glasses!!!! So that’s 3 weeks longer that I will have to be driving him around. Yay me.
Well this is short..back to swagbucks and laundry I go! Then gotta get up early to run to OSH and to Walmart so I can get Subaru Ladies stickers packed up and ready to go out on Monday.
